 2017 Preview 


       Westbrook Christian finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Westbrook Christian finished sixth in Class 2A region six with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Westbrook Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.1 points a game.

       Since 2010, Westbrook Christian has gone a combined 36-35. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Westbrook Christian has managed to compile a record of 139-127. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 2A and 172nd in the AHSAA.

       Coach Mintz's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 129-109 (54.2%). His 129 wins rank 37th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Mintz's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won six region championships.

       The Westbrook Christian Warriors will play in Class 2A region six during the 2017 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Warriors if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season.

       The Warriors open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Glencoe on Friday, September 1 at Jack Osborn Stadium. Last year the Glencoe Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 3A region five. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Southside Gadsden by a score of 28-21.

       Westbrook Christian and Glencoe have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 3-9-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2016 with Glencoe winning by a score of 35-0.

       Westbrook Christian returns 2A All-State Senior defensive back Caeden Godfrey. He was named to the second team last season. The Warriors also return Senior linebacker Court Coley. He was named to the second team.
